Trying to order a 2025 Ram 3500 limited. Being told that Blue Forged Steel color is not available, although its all over the 1500 line up. Has anyone heard the same or have info on when it will be available on the 3500 line up?

I haven't checked for about three weeks but, last I was told by my dealer, it can't be ordered yet and they gave no date when it would be available. I ended up ordering a GMC Denali HD Ultimate. In addition to not having to wait, it is manufactured in the U. S. so, no tariff issues and, should the legislation pass, I'll be able to deduct the interest on the loan on my taxes starting in 2026, possibly retroactive to 2025.

The paint shop at the plant in Saltillo is in the process of updating their technology. So they’re phasing in colors slowly. They’ve been doing a lot of quality control checks and getting things dialed in. More colors will become available, it’s just going to take some time. Unsure what the current timeline looks like.

Sling insults at the staff when falsely reporting a post because you have been restricted from commenting in a thread you were trolling is how you get a perma-ban.
Good Lord. We're halfway through the model year! What a disaster. Heads should roll at Stellantis. I was all set to buy my 2nd Ram 3500 Limited in 2 years but ended up ordering a GMC instead. My first GMC ever. In the color I want it in. With 6 colors to choose from. Getting it dialed in. Quality control. Please. This has to be a troll answer because this is 2025, not 1925.

You should 100% probably not call troll on a mod here.

Yeah.

Definitely not a troll answer. That information comes directly from the people on the ground in Saltillo who make these things.

Red and Blue pigments are next in line, but incorporating a whole new paint technology and process while the production line is actively producing vehicles is a challenge. They’re doing their due diligence and making sure that the things are right.

Thanks for the additional info. Seems like there is some light at the end of the tunnel then.

Seems specious to me. This is something that probably should have been worked out a year ago. "Light at the end of the tunnel" halfway through the model year is just not acceptable in 2025, IMO.

Not sure where you keep pulling “half way through the model year” from?

There are 12 months in a model year and we just entered April. So we’re about 1/3 of the way through the model year at best. Production of these trucks started in January and will run all the way up until December of 2025, like they have in past generations.

You need to keep in mind there have been a significant number of “new” items added to these trucks:

- All new electrical architecture
- New exterior styling
- New engine
- New transmission

Just to name a few. What you’re seeing is a pretty substantial “refresh” of the truck overall, so it only makes sense that the first series of a new model year will have some slow implementations of certain features. Ram only has one plant producing the HD line, so it takes time to end one series of truck, and then retool / change over to a new one, plus also implement new production technologies on the line as its operating. Stop and think of the shear number of changes it takes to change the entire production process over to the new model. It’s pretty substantial.

You could always put an order in for a Ford in the color you like. You might get it a year or so after you make the initial down payment.

I think you're off on the "model year" concept. That said, I am not a Ford guy. I ordered my GMC Denali HD DRW Ultimate 2 weeks ago, in the color I want. No problems at GMC.

I can't tell where you're taking this.

OP asked if the blue was available yet, it is not. That's fact.
Taking away the emotional burdens, it's not released to order/produce yet - so what part of that is wrong or incorrect? (once you take aside the wishes and shoulda wouldas)

If you had been allowed to order one, and then waited an inordinate amount of time, I could understand the fist-shaking.
But they didn't allow it yet, because it's not ready yet.... just Black, White, Granite, or Wait.

In other news, we are definitely not halfway through the model year, but that's a post for next month :)

My point is, there are only 4 colors total and only 3 available. That, IMO, is inexcusable. This is the FLAGSHIP truck in the Ram lineup. They eliminated the pearl white which I had. Bright white, IMO, doesn't suit a truck at this price point. As far as the "model year" goes, let me ask you this; how long have the '25 2500s and 1500s been on dealer lots? And, I have never seen a tone when manufacturers were still taking orders on December of the model year.....so, IMO, the "model year" really ends in September. This is just my way of seeing it. The assembly plants should have been ready to go, colors and all, NLT December of last year. It's unthinkable, to me, to offer a $100K truck in only 4 colors, then have no guidance other than, "wait," for one of the three. It is no secret that there are problems at Stellantis. This is indicative of that.

There are 8 colors listed and only 3 available.
2025 1500s - First arrived on lots in May of 2024, but only lower trim levels at first, and forged blue wasn't open to order until July 2024, and even today is not available on trucks with ramboxes. They only opened sport/night recently.
2025 2500s - Began to arrive in February, same schedule as 3500s, same plant.

The model year starts and ends at different times every year. 2025 is a massive outlier for both 1500s and HDs.
2025 MY for 1500s opened for ordering in December 2023, which was about 4 months earlier than "normal" ranges (May-August)
2025 MY for HDs opened for ordering November 2024, which was about 3 months later than "normal" ranges (May-August)
....listen carefully.... we are not halfway through the model year.... wink wink

I understand you're frustrated at the situation, but that doesn't make it any less true.
I sure wish I had more colors to sell from, and they were supposed to open the Molten Red almost a month ago (that was the only one we were given an expectation on)

The GM forum is calling……

So, IOW, we are 5 months into the model year for 3500s, not 6. Got it.

waiting on the blue
That's your choice to make. I have a timeline that I have to stick to. March 15th was the drop dead date to order whatever I was going to order. I waited ywars for Ram to finally adopt the ZF 8-speed. Even sold my '23 when I heard it was actually happening. GM has a 10-speed and a solid diesel motor. They also have way more options, including colors. If I'm spending > $100K on a truck, I'm getting what I want.

Honest question. Why would you sell before you knew what would actually be available to order?

I was told I could get it in the color I wanted. I had to sell mine to get a new one so I put it up for sale. I then received a full price offer and had to strike while the iron was hot. Once the truck was sold, I got an, "Oops, my bad," from the dealer on the color. I'd always had the GMC as a backup plan and, lo and behold, I ended up ordering one that will get here sooner than the Ram would have, even in a color that actually is available. It'll be the color I want as well. We'll see how it goes. I may come back to Ram in a few years, but this time it's a GMC.
