Third-generation Hemi fans who have been eyeing a blower kit to close the gap between their 5.7-liter or 6.4-liter Hemi and the vaunted Hellcat Hemi have had a hard time. It’s just not as simple as adding boost until you crest the 700-hp mark—there are issues associated with strength in key areas, in particular regarding the use of the factory cast pistons and powdered-metal rods. We’ve documented the upgrade process of swapping cast pistons for forged ones, using Mahle’s drop-in pistons with Molnar H-beam forged rods on a 392 BGE Hemi, and there aren’t any real alternatives (other than using different brands) to reach the 700-hp plateau and beyond.

Even with a fully forged bottom-end, the third-gen Hemi code can be hard to crack, especially for the novice building a Hemi V-8 at home. There are many choices of induction and valvetrain hardware, and for most home budgets the trial-and-error approach to parts selection is a hit-or-miss affair. To be sure, there are many great parts out there and plenty of combinations that might work just fine, but the COMP Group—which houses the FAST, COMP Cams, and Edelbrock brands among others—has taken a considerable amount of guesswork out of the equation with a new kit that promises as much as 1,016 hp. This kit is compatible with 2011–2018 Hemi engines with VVT, including all “Eagle” 5.7-liter, “Apache” 392, and “BGE” 6.4-liter Hemi V-8s.

You can see why we were excited to hear about FAST’s 303010 supercharger and camshaft Power Package for the 5.7- and 6.4-liter third-generation Hemi, which retails for $8,837.95 through Summit Racing. The package features an Edelbrock Eaton 2650 TVS supercharger kit, a matching COMP Cams hydraulic roller camshaft, a phaser limiter kit, pushrods, and a valvespring kit. What’s more, FAST includes a pump gas-friendly supercharger pulley for initial tuning and general performance driving plus a smaller pulley for maximum power on race fuel or E85. For the right short-block with forged internals—BluePrint’s new PS426CT partial long-block ($13,799) that we recently reported on, for instance—FAST’s Power Package can provide a safe and reliable path forward to the big four-digit number. The FAST Supercharger and Cam Power Package fits 2011–2018 engines with VVT, including all “Eagle” 5.7-liter, “Apache” 392, and “BGE” 6.4-liter Hemi V-8s.

Edelbrock’s TVS2650 roots-style supercharger kit was introduced in 2017 and is at the heart of this package. By itself, it’s good for 483 rear-wheel horsepower on a 2015-to-2023 5.7-liter Hemi and 572 rear-wheel horsepower on a 2015-to-2023 6.4-liter Hemi. For the FAST Power Package, however, the system was tested on a built 6.4-liter BGE Hemi run on an engine dyno, as opposed to installed and running on a Mustang eddy-current chassis dyno, as the smog-legal baseline E-Force supercharger kits were. On the engine dyno, with an all-forged 6.4-liter BGE Hemi running on E85, output for the blower/valvetrain/cam package swelled to 1,016 hp, which came in at 7,100 rpm.

That would be fun in my Durango. Maybe after warranty is up!
