Flooded 2023 RAM 2500

I neede an HD truck and they are very expensive lately. I live in Alaska and everything is even more expensive here. So I decided to go this route. I bought a flooded truck and my friend found a shop in Houston who was willing to try to make diagnostics.

It is really nicely configured truck and I really hope I will manage to get it restored. I wanted to ask if anyone knows a way to connect to the main modules (BCM or ECU) separately to test them as the shop guys still can't get any communcation with the truck trough OBD. I am wonder if there are fuses that blow first. I know it cpould be millions of things, but I will take any hint or advise.

The photo below shows the flood line. Any recommendations are highly apprectiated.

Good luck on your endeavor. You might try a security bypass cable to see if they can communicate that way. Might need one anyway depending on what equipment they’re using to “talk” to the truck.
 
There are modules under the drivers seat that are probably smoked and could be pulling down the network, I would unplug every module under the seat and try to communicate again. Also pull off the kick panels and see if any other modules that live there got wet. The BCM is pretty high on the firewall so that is probably OK, is that a picture of the kick panel with the water line? It's hard to make out what is in the picture

The picture is taken on passenger side under the glove box. The floor mats were removed, that's why it is probably confusing. It would be a passenger door on the right side of the picture.

That makes sense now, im pretty sure the parking sensor module is behind the drivers kick panel, so check that and unplug if it's below the waterline, check the passenger side kick panel too. I'm not 100% certain but I believe there is a airbag module somewhere on the floor in the center of the truck. If it was my truck I would pull all the seats and console/carpet to make sure that nothing got missed. You should disconnect any connector that was submerged and blow/dry it out to prevent future corrosion

Thats what they did and they were able to start the truck today. Engine is running ok and oil was clean.

As of now, we difinitely know that airbag and under driver seat modules were submerged and defintely need to be replaced. Are there any more modules that are located at the same height? I am afraid they may be shorted too.

Yes Sir, 25% of MSRP price. The MSRP is $103.7k and I bought it for a little less than $25k. It will take about $4k to get the truck to Alaska and maybe about $5-10k to fix everything. I know there is always a risk that my estimated $5-10k can blow up, but I am aware of that risk and I guess will have swallow it if it happens that way.

id take that risk i think. i wonder how the exhaust faired with it having water in it. being a truck like this id almost put it on a diet just rule it out when its all said and done lol
 
I was told that they are taking off the interior parts to inspect everything, clean the electrical connections / modules and let the wet materials dry.
I wonder how many modules are located around the same height with SRS module to estimate the workload and parts cost.
I would think at least 50% of modules are dead.
 
maybe they arent as bad as you think. sometimes if they are allowed to dry out then its possible they may still be good if power wasnt sent through them. if its saltwater, then id be more inclined to say they are done.

The memory seat module, central vision processing module, air suspension module (if it has airbags), comfort seat and wheel module all live on the floor near the drivers seat, the memory seat module is attached to the bottom of the seat cushion, so depending on the water level that one might be ok, the rear seat module and RF hub are on the rear cab wall, but I think they are high enough that water probably didn't get to them.
Depending on trim and options you may not have all of these modules listed

It is quite loaded truck actually and I think it has all the modules that you listed.

What about all electrical connections, wires and modules that are on exterior of the truck? I guess they can be affected too, right?

Also how reliable the Ram app? I am getting a health report with everything green since yesterday.
