Just saw this, pretty sure it's mostly true and explains part of the delays we are seeing, not only with our trucks but everything elseScreenshot_20210822-110841_Facebook.jpg

lol love the Ever Given shot for their “rumor”. But who knows. If it truly was that bad, air transportation is still an option. When we were shipping about $750 worth of goods from China, it was $1400 to have them sent VIA plane. By boat was $500. Guess it all depends on the quantity and size if that would be a reasonable alternative or not.

There is NO way it costs $24,000 to ship a container here from China. Sorry, but when a statistic like that makes no sense, I can't buy it. More like $2,400. He got the decimal place wrong. If that were the case, everything would be flying here on cargo planes. ...Or else it's $24,000 for that container filled with bicycles.

As far as shipping containers it cost $4k to send a container from seattle, WA to Sweden two years ago. My brother in law ships stuff through his company from China over here and it is indeed about $20k a container right now.

Hoping to stop this from derailing any further… proof it’s at20k now:

back to staying “on topic” for 2022 trucks lol.

I guess you don't know it all sir ;) Think about how much it cost to ship a small package around the US, then think about how many of those packages you can fit in a 40' container, then ship it to China or a distant country and the $24k price becomes a very real number quickly!

Sorry guys, wasn't trying to derail the topic, just trying to say that shortages and price increases are real and they will affect all of us that have ordered a new truck in one way or another, be it timing and/or pricing...

Back on topic, I'm still waiting like the rest of you...

Yeah right, total bs
Believe what you want, someone else posted an article backing up what I posted. Maybe you're blind to retail and damn near every other industry, lots of product out of stock, on back order and so on. The expense for any shipping has gone up, containers are no different, look at all of the issues with the canals getting backed up, ports low on workers, covid back on the rise. Open your eyes, do some research before being a keyboard warrior and just spouting off

Here’s another link. It mentions the rates are up 6x last year’s rates. To just over $18k from Asia to the West Coast. So the story appears to be (mostly) true. The $32,000 listed in the title isn’t 100% accurate, but “The index shows Asia-U.S. West Coast rates at $18,345, six times higher than a year ago, and the price for shipping to the U.S. East Coast quadrupled to $19,620 per forty-foot equivalent unit.”
