I just ordered a Tradesman. Not only did my amazing wife tell me I needed to order a truck and get it with all the options I wanted, she said I could get LED headlights for it as well. I'm just trying to figure out what to do. If I keep the reflector housing, I think the Morimoto 2 Stroke 2.0 would be the way to go for low and high beam. I'm not sure about the signal bulbs though. It looks like those would be the best to keep from blinding other drivers. Another option is the Morimoto XB hybrid lights or the Alpharex Luxx. I'm a little skeptical about putting aftermarket lights in not only for the light durability, but the lens durability also. My final thought is the factory LED lights. Are 68360178AC and 68360179AC the right part numbers? I'm looking for the chrome housing(I think. Keeping the chrome grill and bumper) and the Laramie lights. Do the Laramie lights come with all the bulbs or do I need to buy them. From what I can tell it's a complete assembly that just plugs in. I'm looking forward to your opinions on upgrades that you have done.

Take a look at the other exterior light threads lots of infor for the oem swap and i would not use an aftermarket housing in these trucks except for the morimoto drop in housing

I decided to take a screw it I'm not doing anything day and spent some time searching the threads. I found the info I needed on the Laramie lights. I just need to decide which way to go. Is the light output of the Morimoto bulbs or the hybrid headlight headlight much better than the Laramie light in the real world(not just against a wall)?

What direction did you go? I’m curious because i have a tradesman and I’d like some good LED headlights.. I’ve already installed the SAE Baja Design Squadron fogs and they put out more light than the factory halogen headlights.. I’ve been looking at the OEM Projector & Reflectors.. both are possible with AlphaOBD.. I’m a bit hesitant to go this route because I’m a Neanderthal when it comes to tech.. Morimoto XB hybrids are my other option along with Alphalux.. I don’t trust aftermarket headlights as much as i do OEM. I’ve seen far too many aftermarket headlights get moisture and have premature failure vs OEM.. I’m just curious which way you went

Thanks

I ended up putting in Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0 in the low and high beam. They're better then the halogen lights, but I don't know that they're $250/pair better. Some of that may be that I couldn't get the bulb adjusted so the LEDs were pointing directly to the sides. When it goes into the body shop I'll mess with them while the headlights are out to see if I can get them adjusted.

Ok so you still have the stock headlights with LED bulbs.. don’t know if I’m going to go OEM, AlphaRex, or Morimoto..

Don’t put drop in LED bulbs in a halogen housing. No matter what anyone tells you or what any marketing material says, its impossible (literally, this is not just hyperbole) to get a properly shaped beam out of them and they will give you worse visibility and likely blind other drivers. The shape of an LED emitter is different than the shape of a halogen filament. There is no way to make them work properly.

If you want LED lights you *must* replace the entire housing.
