Exposed wiring behind front wheel wells - normal?

Just crawled under my truck to take a look around and saw a bunch of exposed wires right at the connector blocks. Seems to me that road crud will eventually cake up in there and cause corrosion, especially water wicking down into the plug connectors.

I'll need to remove the wheel well plastic liners to get at and tape up the wires.

BTW, I'm laying on the ground under each wheel well taking these pics.

Is this normal? Seems pretty sloppy work to me.

Normal.

The wires are individually sealed going into the connector.

A boot or tape (IMHO) would just trap moisture at the plug seal.
Thanks. Just saved me some work and busted knuckles. Agree with trapping the moisture unless I were to shrink wrap something up there.

it kind of bugs me how much electrics are so exposed on my 2020 Power wagon. the front wheel wells are the worst.

It is very evident that the people designing / engineering these trucks have never driven down a gravel road or a trail in their lives. :(

Are they actually exposed or are they stuffed up behind the wheel well liners? I did see some of this when I installed the mudflaps but everything was behind the liners.

Have you seen or heard of anyone with damaged wiring or connectors?

I've always put mudflaps on my trucks so I guess I've not experience any issues with damaged wiring or connectors.

They have been doing that since the early 90s when the 2nd gen started, nothing to worry about

The photos I took are from lying on my back on the ground looking up. I didn't pull the well liners out to expose the wire connectors. That's why I got concerned.

The first photo showing the blue and grey connectors, I can reach right up and grab them.
