New ownership of a 2021 RAM 2500 6.4L Single Cab 4x4 36K miles. 1 owner truck personal use non commercial use and truck is brand new inside and out. Only 100hrs of idle time total of the approx. 900hrs.
First morning of starting it up (30 degrees outside) engine was super quiet and smooth, zero abnormal issues. Came outside approx. 5mins later to get in for work and noticed a tapping sound. Dealer disclosed they changed the oil/filter prior to sale, so with my concern I changed the oil using Valovline European 0W-40 (meets Chrysler spec MS-A0921 & MS-12633) left the Wixs filter on at this time. Next morning same thing, perfect start up with super quiet engine and no abnormal noises, few mins later it starts a tapping sound. Drove it for about 8 miles to the gas station and let it idle the whole time I was pumping gas and the engine is super quiet, zero noises. Went through a drive through as well and engine was super quiet the whole time idling in the line.

I first thought exhaust leak but they tend to make noises from cold start and go away as things heat up.
I also thought lifter noise but it basically has zero lifter noise during start up, odd for it to show up a few minutes later?
I plan on cutting open the oil filter very soon for inspection.

This is my first truck purchase in 19 years. I bought new in 2006 a Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L V8 and today it has 330,XXX miles and have had zero issues with the internals of the engine. A single cab 2500 4X4 has been a dream truck of mine for some time so it's little frustrating at the moment to think this new to me truck has a valve train issue. Being aware of the "Hemi Tic" something told me to stay away from the 6.4 and get a GMC product with the 6.6L gas but here I am.

While at it look at the tie bar on the exhaust that ties the two pipes together just after the cats.

Mine was cracked and mage some tapping at times. I posted a picture of it here in another thread.
