I have a 2022 3500 with the standard engine. I’m pulling my 43’ 5th wheel traveling from S Florida to Tampa. Made it 2 hours into the trip and my check engine light came up and the adaptive cruise control error light came on. All temps and oil pressure are normal but I can’t get anymore than 8 or 9 psi of boost and I’m stuck in 4th gear. Trying to decide what to do. Is there a computer reset I can do? Could it be a blown fuse? My dealer back home is useless. Their advise is bring it in. I have not tried stopping yet. Trying to come up with a game plan. Speed doesn’t matter, stuck in 4th even if I try to use the gear limit. It does not do anything. Anyone with suggestions?

Can you find a auto parts store that will read the code for you?

Trans is in limp mode (stays in 4th gear) you need to see what the code is before you do anything else

Made to our destination. When I stopped for fuel and turned it off and back on, everything was back to normal with the exception of the check engine light still on, but it’s running normal again.

May be a solenoid pack, others have had the same experience.

By any chance did you have the cruise control on? I had a similar problem without the lights. Pulled over, shut it off, and restarted leaving the cruise off. Next 600 miles no problem pulling 44’ 5th wheel

Cruise control was off.

Glad you made it, did you have a chance to get the codes read?

Check all your fuses are they pushed in all the way?

Still worth checking the fuse seating, known issue.

Just checking if anyone had resolution to this. Just had similar experience, 2021 SO pulling 6k trailer. Cruise on at 65, tyrany abruptly down shifted to 4th and check engine light came on. All temps normal. Pulled over and shut engine off. Underway again and all is normal except check engine light is still on.

After more thread searches sounds like it might be the valve body. Will try to get code when we get home and will likely set up appt with dealer.

It it the cruise control. Same problem, pulled over, shut it off, turned cruise off, everything fine since. I have since pulled a 19k RV 1000 miles without a hint of a problem. Make sure cruise and adaptive cruise are off when towing a load. Resettable malfunction. Then again maybe the transmission will explode on the way home from Sturgis

Not sure I would say it's an endemic issue running cruise with a load, I do it all the time without issue, or at least it's not an issue I've experienced with the HO/Aisin or seen posted anywhere.

Still waiting for mine. Limping along so far

Made it back to town, about 180 miles no issues. Trans functioning normally and engine light still ON after two engine shutdown cycles. Stopped at 1st auto parts store and truck had code P0765 Shift Solenoid D. I have towed around 5K miles with no issues and the majority with cruise ON. My truck does not have the adaptive cruise.

Maybe totally different but I recently had a similar issue with my 2021 Standard output while towing our 41ft toy hauler. I did not get a check engine light, but while driving at normal highway speed (65mph) the truck stopped responding to throttle input, would not build boost, and would not downshift even under load with the throttle pedal on the floor. I tried using the gear limit to force it to downshift and it would not respond to this either. Don't know why or what made me attempt it, but I moved the shift lever to neutral and then back to drive and everything magically began working as it should again. I took it to the dealer the following week and nothing, no codes and they said they had never heard or seen this before.

Sounds like a different issue. No lights/codes sounds like a Gremlin at work . Will make an appointment with dealer as the evidence is still present.

You have a faulty shift solenoid....this exact thing happened to my buddy's truck... defaults to 4th gear only....it's not a hard fix but you gotta drop the valve body down to get to it....make an appointment asap.....
