Electric over Hydraulic Gain Setting

Anyone have a heavy fifth wheel with electric over hydraulic disc brakes? What gain setting did you end up with? I have not towed my trailer yet. First tow won't be until end of October when we head to TX for the winter and just wondering what gain setting to start at.

its really an experiment from one trailer to another. I usually run mine fairly high, not enough to lock the wheels but just shy of that. I think it was somewhere around 7.0?

yeah, i would suggest the first time you take this trailer out, isn't down the highway. Find a few quiet backroads, experiment. I have some trailers that lock the wheels on very low settings, others that won't lock the wheels at all. My 5k travel trailer won't lock them up, my 18k 5th wheel would lock them up anything over 5.

start at 5 and start going hit your manual brake slide if it tries to lock up go down in gain and try again, if it cant be felt or hardly felt go up... i always try to set it so the trailer can be felt stopping its self without the need for the truck slowing the trailer down.... also in the settings menu on the truck radio there is a trailer setup menu where you can change the brake type setting to electric over hydraulic

I just installed electric over hydraulic on my 16k 5ver, using the Brakerite actuator. I set it for Heavy electric over hydraulic. Don't recall where the gain is, but I think it was ~ 7 or 8.

BTW, Best upgrade I've done on my trailer. Will NEVER own another heavy trailer with electric drum brakes.

My trailer is currently around 14,600 lbs, and I am running heavy EOH, at 6.5 on the gain.
