EGT Gauge on Ram HD

Hello All, I would like to add an EGT probe on my truck but do not want a separate gauge added to my truck. Is there a way to get a EGT gauge but can read it via my phone/app? I know banks has a pretty cool looking gauge that can read multiple readings (including EGT), however I am trying to keep my truck looking as stock as possible.

you can use the factory egt sensors and have them display on your phone through a Bluetooth OBD reader such as OBDLink MX+

There are 5 EGT probes on a stock truck but unless you are looking for Regen temps there is not really a reason to monitor it as the ECM wont allow the temps to hit any dangerous numbers

Is there way to measure EGT on stock truck without any aftermarket stuff? I went through menu setting already but no specific information on EGT temperatures. It is my understanding EGT is best to stay under 1300 degrees when towing so just trying to monitor

The highest that I've seen on my '22 HO pulling 20k lbs up a 6-7% grade, foot to the floor for at least a few minutes straight is around 1050-1100 degrees post turbo on the factory EGT sensor #1, it seemed to hit that temp and just stop, so I'm sure that the PCM is limiting fuel to keep it in one piece.

There is not.

None of the OEM sensors are pre-turbo so 1000-1100°F is more of an appropriate max for EGT1, but even then it's not an issue if you don't monitor it.

Unless you're tuned (poorly) EGT should not be an issue.

I monitor mine because I want HIGHER EGT in normal driving to get better passive regen. I've found driving around in TH with the EB engaged is great for saving the brakes (and funner) but not so great for DPF soot loading.

I’ve run across this before in the forum. I always turn on the full exhaust brake after startup. Do you think it has a significant impact on DPF loading?

I think the difference is mostly running TH. Higher RPM's will lower EGT.

Yea the computer will defuel long before the EGTs hit anywhere near a dangerous level
