I thought the ecm had to have a date code for a 2019-2021 model year vehicle. Everything I’ve read, the 2022 & up have locked programs. The one shown has a 2023 date.

This "locked program" bullcrap really pisses me off. Its MY truck!! I bought it, it belongs to me.... and that means all its parts and pieces INCLUDING the damn ECM!!! So, what, I'm just borrowing the ECM? I'm renting it?? If I want to take a hammer to my truck and bludgeon it to bits, thats my choice. If I wanna plug in a computer and change something in the programming, thats supposed to be my choice too.

Same crap in the agricultural game. John Deere is especially bad locking out their customers. Million bucks for a machine and you can’t even diagnose it yourself.

Ya but Johnny don’t play nice… if you have to invest $20K on hardware to ask yer tractor why it’s sick it makes it out of reach for most.

The auto industry started this with putting covers over the egines and requiring special tools to remove it so you couldn't work on your engine.
