I have a 2022 2500 6.7.
Dealer cost of oil and fuel filters is close to 500$.
If I do my own with mopar filters and 5-40 Rotella t6. And for some reason i have fuel or engine related issues does the fact I did it myself ruin warranty claims?
Dealer quote 175 just for one filter
I’m just not comfortable throwing money away like that.
I have no problems doing it myself then going out with the wife and a friend for steak dinner on the cost savings of the filters alone. These dealers are crooks! 200% markup?
Tell me more.
Thanks

Also. On my first oil change by my dealer they couldn’t even tell me what weight or brand oil they put in it.
I cant trust these guys!

As long as you keep your receipts and some sort of a maintenance log, I don't think they can deny warranty.

Agreed. We have the Magnuson-Moss warranty act in the States to protect you. Just keep receipts. Also, you can enter your own maint stuff on the Ram owners website.

Just keep records of your maintenance. I always keep a written record including pictures of the receipts and mileage at the time of my oil changes.

In general if you have a good relationship with a dealer they will try and help you with warranty claims even if you self maintained. In the grand scheme, you can do it yourself a bit cheaper than the dealer, but is the cost savings worth a potential warranty dispute should one arise? Plus the value of your time involved to do the job? Diesels are expensive to maintain....

In spite of what the law may "say" and and our internet lawyers think is the legal interpretation. Dealers can and do deny warranty claims for all sorts of customer unfriendly reasons. The forums have plenty of stories. Dealers/Manufacturer have deeper pockets for lawyers and are not your friend.. Your fuel pump failed, I have a receipt and log that shows I replaced the filter. dealer "looks like its the original fuel filter, it didn't get changed, warranty work denied" But I have a receipt.... sure you did the work buddy. Its scummy I know, but they are stealerships. You have to decide your risk tolerance.

Ok thanks I feel better about this.
NOW can I trust dieselfiltersonline.com for oem filters? Has anybody used them? Prices are exceptional.

More than a bit cheaper. $500 vs $140 is a pretty big jump for 3 filters. In my world, that's a "bit" too much.

I used dieselfiltersonline.com for all my F350 filter needs. They were all OEM filters for less than the dealers or auto parts stores charged. I've not purchased filters for my new Ram yet, so haven't even started researching those really.

My filters should be here tomorrow. If they are oem they will beat dealer pricing by 2/3rds. I’ll check back and review.
I paid 257 for two sets of fuel filters and a oil filter, a filter socket wrench and oil filter plug.
In opposed to 320 at the dealer for one set of filters one of which they would have had to order. Then they want another 200 to do the job.
I really hate sounding cheap but that is some crazy markup.

Counterfeits run rampant in the filter world. Very convincing fakes. Hopefully your source is the real deal and not another chicom knockoff.

Is there any good way to be sure? For me or the dealer?

I've been buying from dieselfiltersonline.com for many years, all Mopar OEM filters, air, oil, and fuel! I've also bought from Geno's Garage as well.

I can't say I miss my F350 DRW terribly, but think I'm going to miss the inexpensive oil changes - and it used 13 quarts!

I just bought my MY23 Ram 2500 HD Rebel, and they told me about the RamCare where for the first two years, I get four oil changes for free. I haven't called the dealer yet but not only are they going to have to tell me what kind of oil they use, not just the viscosity but also the type, I'm going to need an oil sample. I can collect that myself if they'd let me go back to their service bay, but I suspect they don't like customers to do that. On top of that, I am still wondering if four oil changes in two years includes the Cummins 6.7's because there are 12qts of oil, on top of the fuel filters that have to be replaced at least annually. Not even sure if RamCare will change the fuel filters.

With that said, I prefer to do my own oil changes for a variety of reasons. They cannot void your warranty for doing your own maintenance, just keep records of when you did what and the receipts. If there were ever an issue with your motor they would take an oil sample and send it off for analysis, and use that as the basis of denying any warranty coverage. Having a UOA for every oil change will go a long way to show that you have taken care of your motor. You'd have to have some really bad oil in there for the warranty to be denied.

I just paid $125.00 for 2 Mopar fuel filters from Amazon. $31.18 for 2x LF16035 Fleetguard oil filters. $74.98 for 3 gallons of Rotella T6.
Not terrible for OEM filters and high quality oil. The fuel filters have gotten $$. Very tempted to do a cat conversion, but dont want to give them any reason to void warranty.

The dealer oil change is not too bad price wise , though I do all my own . It is the fuel filters where they gouge you for fiters and labor . Even Napa has crazy filter prices . If you are careful you can get OEM filters on line for a decent price . I wouldn't worry about warranty voiding . As others have said keep a record . The onus is on them to prove you used inferior products or didn't maintain the truck properly . Just saying doesn't make it so !
