I’ve used a product called Shark Hide on my pontoon boat as well as my aluminum tilt car hauler and my aluminum snowmobile trailer. It’s worked really well on the aluminum wheels as well as the diamond plate rock guards on the front of the trailer. When my 2022 2500 arrives I plan on coating the wheels with it. It simple wipes on with a rag and it’s good to go. Just make sure you apply ot in a well ventilated garage or outside on a cloudy day.
@Jsboening thank you very much for the suggestion, I am familiar with, and have used the product in the past. I am not 100% certain, but I thought it's meant to be used with porous raw materials, if there's a clear coat on the wheels then it might not work or even penetrate the wheel's material. This is something I would look into before using it, because I could be completely wrong.
I understand your concerns. I’ve used it on the aluminum wheels on my snowmobile trailer which are clear coated and my tilt deck trailer, but those are much cheaper to replace if things go south. The wheels still look like new and the snowmobile trailer gets hauled through some nasty stuff.
