DPF Gauge only shows 0% particulates.

I just recently purchased a 2019 Ram 2500 Diesel and have noticed that the DPF gauge has never shown more than a 0% reading for particulates, yet performed its first automatic regeneration yesterday although the gauge still read 0%. Does anyone know why this could be happening?

Many have reported this, including myself. There have to be other parameters, whether mile or hour based, to kick off a regen. I have yet to find a comprehensive explanation of the regen strategy. my DPF gauge had a reading of a couple bars when I took delivery, and then did a regen. It has read zero ever since, until this morning it showed one bar, which quickly dropped to zero after a few miles at highway speeds.

I’m just curious of what your operating RPM is on your truck? Mine is around 1800 at 70mph

Mine has always shown zero since new. It did change one time to show an active regen then back to zero.

Mine has said 0 since delivery and never seen a regen. I have pulled 22k pounds about 3500 miles already, maybe the highway and towing helps. Posted on another thread that I did get a service DEF error twice that went away about 400 miles ago.

Just FYI You need to have the DPF screen up to see if it is doing a passive regen.

yup, i keep that dpf gauge up all the time, just to see what it does / when it does it. even during
regens, that filter minder never shows anything but zero on mine..

Same here, I think it’s the system being proactive. I’ll start to worry when particulates show up and don’t go away!

My check engine light came on today so I took it down to the dealer. The dealer told me it’s the DPF system but their not sure what. The gauge isn’t showing any build up and I drive roughly 25 miles one way to work, mostly freeway. Only 1900 miles on the truck. Hopefully it’s nothing...

Hi SkW3rL,

Sorry to hear of the trouble you are experiencing! Please be sure to keep us updated on your dealer's findings. If our team can be of any additional assistance while your truck is in service, we would be more than happy to help.
