Does 8" drop sound about right?

I was talking about getting an adjustable drop ball mount a while back just to have for towing whatever but I drug my feet too much and didn't order one and need to tow my popup next week so I need something now. When it is level, the bottom of the coupler is about 16.5 inches off the ground. If the top of the receiver on the truck is about 25", then a 8 inch drop would be about right, correct? Just making sure that I measured right. I guess I can just get a 2" mount with a 8" drop at Lowe's or Uhaul or something for now for under $40 and use the reducer adapter. The trailer only weighs about 2500 lbs. That should work for now. I can save my $300 for a Bulletproof for a later time if I need it

As long as your stock height it should work. I have a 2019 2500 all stock and got the b&w tow and stow with the 7 inch drop and it works with everything I got. Travel trailer and utility trailer.

Thank you guys. Sounds like this might be suitable for any small utility trailer or boat or something I may need Now I can blow that $300 on something else :)

I got an 8" drop weigh safe and the shank can be used up or down while still clearing an open tailgate. 8" gives you a lot of flexibility.

I am struggling with this now with my 2021 Ram 2500 Limited. I have a 36' travel trailer with a hitch receiver height of around 22" and while waiting for my truck was renting (both Ford and Chevy) and the blue ox drop shank the dealer gave me worked well for the rentals but when I got my Ram it sits 5" higher than both the Ford and Chevy. I swapped my 7 hole (around 7" drop) shank for a 9 hole (around 9" drop) and it is still too high on the lowest setting. I am going to have to swap it out for the 11 hole shank with around 11" drop available.

Yep the B&W tow and stow with 7 inch drop works for all my needs with my 2018 2500 that's all stock.
