Do you guys find that the mirrors take some getting used to?

I don't know what it is...it has these nice big mirrors but for some reason, I don't feel they really show as much as they should. I am coming from an older Chevy and I could see the side of the truck all the way down to the ground and enough out but these seem more limited. Is it because the truck is so high that you won't be able to see the as much up close? I think that may be the problem. When just driving down the road, I have them set pretty well where I can see the back side of the truck, the road behind me, and enough in the lane to the side. The drivers side seems to be better, probably because I am closer to it so can move my head a bit. I guess what is bad is that I can't see the road immediately behind the truck or by the tire, like when you are backing into a parking space or something, it is hard to see the lines of the space, unless you tilt the mirrors way down. Does anyone else know what I am talking about or I am imagining things or just not used to the mirrors yet?
 
I like the older style better that had a small convex upper qtr. It allowed me to see all the way to the right lane. With the separate ones I can't seem to get a nice view of the right lane AND the rear of the truck to judge lane changes to the right.

Yes...this is another thing, especially about the right side. Maybe just because the overall mirror is smaller due to the convex there so you don't see as much. I find it a little more difficult too but have been making use of the convex to see out beyond.
 
Going from my 09 Ram and 15 Durango with normal mirrors (traded the Durango in on the 2500), it took a little getting used to. Could always "ghost trailer" it ;)
 
Yup! Passenger side is pretty much useless for me I rely more on the smaller (blind spot) section of the mirror.
 
These mirrors drive me crazy, especially the passenger side one. I have to back into a driveway that has a chicane in it and like to see where the back tire is and I have found that I have to use the convex portion of the mirror.

I did program my memory settings #2 for optimal viewing when backing up trailers.
 
I have slowly gotten used to mine in the normal mode but it took a while coming from a 2001 truck. I can not seem to adapt to them when in the towing position. Fortunately with an 8' wide trailer rather than 8-1/2', I get along just fine with them in the normal position even when towing.
 
My F250 had the same style of mirrors but the lower convex mirror was manual. And the didnt fold sideways like the Ram does.
I havent flipped mine up in tow mode yet to try them.
But I'm slowly getting used to them.
I also had a '73K5 Blazer that had a big blind spot on the passenger side, no matter how I set the morror.
 
It took me a while. Still don't like them much. I wish the passenger large mirror was convex. I have tried several settings. I have the inside mirror set for the back rear tire for parking and have the large mirror set wide. I have automatic tilt in reverse set to off.

I still need to give that a try, if it actually allows me to see better then Ill prob run them that way regardless of how it looks without a trailer, rather be safe than “fashionable”

I actually feel I see better the way I have them adjusted in normal mode. In tow mode, it just does not feel like I am seeing what I should be. Maybe I just need to give the tow mode a longer trial to see if I can adapt. I still like the mirrors on my 2001 much better though.
 
I had to put mine up in the tow mode to see where I wanted to see with a quick glance and get the convex like I wanted. To heck with how it looks and what others think.......I paid for it and I'm the one driving it.
 
They work better in tow mode for me but I run in normal mode because the tow mode creates a weird blind spot when trying to see what may be in a crosswalk to the sides of the truck when taking a turn
 
Im always in tow mode but due to the fact im usually hauling something, but i actually like these mirrors compared to my older Rams, the chevys and fords i have driven the mirrors sucked in my opinion
 
I liked them on the 3rd gen better but still think they are the best design in terms of both looks and function. We have Super Duty's at work and in regular mode the Super Duty mirrors are better but in in tow mode I like my truck mirrors better.
