Ditching the stock Transforce HTs...recommendations?

Just took delivery of my 2020 Ram 2500 with stock Firestone Transforce HT tires. Reviews not so great, they really weren’t designed for Minnesota winters, and apparently sidewall flex is an issue. Trailer still in storage so I can’t verify that. I guess the tire is fine for middle of the road performance, but I’d like more than that.

I want to get a tire that is better suited to towing and Minnesota winter performance while still acceptable for non-winter months.

Thoughts?

I went with the Falken Wildpeak A/T's, I heard not so great reviews on the Transforce's either.
Ram dealer gave me $400.00 for them (only 500 miles on them), so cost me about $600.00.
Look alot better and seem pretty good in snow, but only have 200 miles on them or so, pretty low road noise.
I like em so far !!
 
I have run Nitto Exo Grapplers on my last two trucks. Good AT tire, snow rated, and three ply sidewall, very tough tire. Toyo CT is basically the same. Downside is they do sing a bit.

I swapped out mine with Michelin LTX AT2 - that's on a 2019 2500. I haven't put a substantial amount of miles on those yet, and haven't towed anything since, but they seem to be good for Wisconsin winter so far.

Cmac7203, did you make a change yet?

The guys at TireRack suggested the Michelin Agilis CrossClimate for on-road touring or Continental TerrainContact H/T or General Grabber AT/X for off-road / highway.

RiverRunner16, I had a set of the factory Falken Wildpeak A/T’s on my 2019 RAM 1500 Off-Road package and really liked them. I think the aftermarket versions are even better as they are not handicapped by FCA’s tire specs.

Let us know how you like them after you go through a winter and have some miles on them.
 
Truck should be in next week. Planning on swapping out the Firestone’s for a set of Cooper discoverer AT3 XLT’s.
 
Actually drove over the Blue Mountains in Oregon about 3 weeks ago in a blinding snow storm...road was snow covered of course and the Falken's did great.
They closed the Freeway right after we got thru (which happens alot in the winter).
 
Did a deal with my dealership for a set of Continental Terrainecontact A/T tires instead of the Firestones. They will be put on this Wednesday. Had been looking to go with Coopers but the dealership could not get them through their network. As the Continentals were the other tire I was seriously thinking about going with, and the dealer could get them, I made the switch. Either way I know I am getting a much better tire than the Transjunks the Ram came with.
 
What kind of a deal is the dealers offering on a tire swap ? Just out of curiosity hopefully my truck will be at dealer in a couple weeks ..If the tranny recall doesn't delay it forever

Did you get the Falkens through the dealer?

Price sounds like you did not swap the spare?

Speaking of which, I don't actually know what size the spare is going to be on the new truck... o_O

Those are what I intend to put on right away, but step up to 285/65R20's (Limited). I've had good luck selling take-off's on Craigslist too, but if the dealer or Discount gave me $100/tire I'd take it and run. Tires are cheapest on Amazon or Walmart, but of course mounting is extra.

I recently swapped mine out for Wrangler Duratrac, plus as a bonus got the alignment finally sorted out which was bad from the dealer, so now it drives so much better.
Had the Duratrac on my 1500 and found them great both on and off road (fire trails mostly) plus they have great tread life. I stuck with OE fit size
