This has been bugging me for a while and I’m hoping someone can help or at least confirm the behavior of my mirrors. I had 2019 1500 with dimming mirrors and they worked great, dimming when it began to get dark and headlights went on, but the mirrors on my 24 HD suuuuuck. My mirrors only dim for about 15 minutes of the day around dusk and then become normal mirrors who take great satisfaction in directing any light they can find directly into my eyes.

Anyone else struggling with their mirrors? I wonder if my bed cap is interfering with whatever sensor is supposed to trigger them to dim.

Yes, the sensor is in the rearview mirror, so your cap is going to reduce the light hitting that, and thus reduce the amount/frequency of the mirrors dimming.

Not sure if mine actually has dimming side mirrors, but yes, that bothers me, too.
What year were they introduced? Mine's a 22, and I don't see anything regarding this on the equipment listing.

'23.

I believe that sensor is in the inside mirror so yeah, a cap would interfere.
yeah, that's been my suspicion, but my '19 1500's dimming side mirrors worked fine with a cap, so it's been particularly frustrating with the 3500.
