What is the proper logic for dimming the digital instrument cluster on 2025 HD's?

The issue I am seeing is that with the headlight selector in Auto and during low light periods the headlights will turn on as indicated by the green dash symbology but the screens will not dim until it get's darker. Previously my experience has been with most vehicles that the instrument cluster will dim when the lights are on and this doesn't seem to be the case. To take it a step further when I have this symptom I have set the headlight switch to the ON position which the instrument cluster still will not dim however the uconnect 14.5" screen will... Kinda odd. Now if it's pitch black out both the uconnect screen and digital instrument cluster dim. This issue is only arrising during dusk/dawn.

Further, I know how the brightness dial works and making sure it is not indented into the full brightness setting. So it's not that...

You see that lil black nipple on the center of the dash?
Cover that up during daylight and see what happens

Turn your headlights off and then back on, they will dim.

I've used this trick and it only works when I started the truck when it's obviously very dark outside and the instrument cluster turned on with full brightness. This trick does work to get it do dim in that scenario.

It is working as designed.

Your info screen is easier to read with less illumination. Thats why it will auto dim before the gauges.
Once it gets darker, all will dim to your set level.

Its why I said just turn on your lights during bright day and cover up that nipple on the dash, all will dim immediately.

My 2022 did this as does my 2024. It took me about 3 weeks of watching it to figure it out.

It's working as it's supposed to. I love that it doesn't dim with the headlights directly. That was one of my biggest gripes with Chrysler until recently.

I've been playing around with this recently, I hate how bright the center cluster is when it's "dark" outside but not "night". I've also tried the off/auto switch with no change as well as every setting I can find in the menu. If it's dark enough for headlights it's dark enough to dim. Worked fine in my '22 but not so much in the '25.
