Difference in steering stabilizers

Kinda curious to what could be different in the suspension/ Steering for some manufacturers to offer stabilizers for 08-13 then 14+ and then I see icon offers 08+ on cjc.
 
The Icon comes with 2 sets of bushings, one set for the 9-13, another for the 14+. You have to swap them out depending on the application.

The entire front suspension was redesigned on 2014+. Went from 5 Link design to a 3 Link (radius arms).

The Fox TS/ATS is a good design that provides balanced/bidirectional steering damping of a dual stabilizer setup, with just one stabilizer
 
Bilstein 33-170794 can be used on 2013/2014+ if you add a washer on the tie rod end to make up for the bushing sleeve being a little narrow. Factory is 1.50" on that end and the other end (as well as both ends of the Bilstein, which is made for earlier ram trucks) is 1.37." I found a washer that measured 0.110" and it all worked out.

I went hard lock to hard lock on my truck and measured 16.5" to 24". The Bilstein is 14.6" to 24.3", so it covers the range. For some reason Bilstein won't throw a washer in the box and sell that damper for the 2013/2014+ trucks.

My stock had 80k on it. Bilstein made a noticeable reduction in small bump feedback. Go cheaper and get a Rancho or Monroe. Step up and get Fox, Thuren/King, Carli duals, etc.

I have this bilstien actually. I found out the hard way that a washer was needed lol. Probably upgrading to a king once I get around to taking the 37” tires in to have them mounted.

Will be interested to hear your impression of difference between the two, in terms of bump feedback reduction.

To be honest not impressed with the bilstein at first. Still kinda open as really haven’t driven my normal route since I installed it. This weekend while I wait for King will be a true test. Kinda feels exactly like the stock one if any improvements at all so far*.

I recently put on a new (mopar) steering box, which solved on-center play but wildly increased bump chatter and road crown feedback - mostly because I had caster set to 6 deg and the old box, I had tightened up to try to remove play. Turns out having a box that's a little tight on center is an effective way to dampen small, high frequency steering input. So much so that having extra caster was a reasonable combination.

So with the new box, the bilstein definately made an improvement from my 80k mile stock one. I'm not going to insist it's better technology, just new vs worn and only $90 vs other options. Again, small bump chatter removed on center. Taking 2 deg of caster back out (last night) also helped things. I think my quest for steering improvements will end here, unless a Thuren/King or Fox ATS damper falls into my lap for a discount.

Bottom line, there's a huge interplay between the steering box, damper, steering geometry, tire size and wheel offset, etc. The system truly is a system.

Also note, with the old box on the bench, the over center tightness went away when I backed the adjustment right back to where it had been from the factory. (I marked it before goofing with it.) Turns out that after 80k miles, my truck's steering box play was 0% in the sector shaft mesh, and 100% in the upstream ball screw.

You know after driving around this morning trying to intentionally see if there is a significant difference or not. They’re probably is a good difference and I’m trying to justify spending the $300. I just spent on CJC.

Small bump feedback? Chatter, broken pavement, sharp edges, etc.
 
Small bumps, broken pavement and waves in the freeway. Kinda pushing towards passenger side now but not dramatically. Kinda feels spongy if anything but not as harsh and not chasing the road anymore
 
Looking forward to the king just for the sake of it.

Guess we will see if there’s a difference for the extra $200 bucks
