On my 2018 I had a little aluminum gas cap from eBay. It sealed off the fuel filler hole and I sorta preferred having that. I see the 2019+ have a different filler but is that correct or would the 2018 style also fit?

NO, the the 2018 cap will not fit the 2019+ model year, you need to order 2019+.
