I have a 2019 3500 w/the H.O. Diesel. Other than being API certified and meeting the ISO 22241 standards, does it matter what brand of DEF I use? Mopar brand is $10/gallon . . . NOT! Cummins website recommends using Fleetguard brand DEF, but I can't find it anywhere. Was going to use O'Reilly Auto Parts brand $10 for 2.5 gallons, or I can go to the local truck stop. Any input would be appreciated.

Loves, Pilot, Flying J pumps are about $1.90-2.30/gal or Walmart jugs

If off the shelf make sure you Check the date old stuff is no good

Unlike motor oil, there are no additives, and no enhancements. DEF is 32.5% Urea, and 67.5% DI Water. Wally World Supertech is generally $7.88/2.5 Gallon jug, and the date code is generally printed with an actual date of manufacture. Most of the others use that ridiculous reverse Julian date nonsense just to confuse the consumer. None of my local fuel stations have DEF at the pump, so I only have access to it when traveling.

I've run Walmart brand in my Cummins powered trucks with no issues.

My only caution would be to check the seal on the jug before purchase. It has happened to others, and once to me, that someone took the jug home and put it in the truck, refilled the jug with water, and returned it. The seal was in the cap, but it was not stuck to the jug....you could see where it had been sealed, but was pulled off. After that I always checked the seal before leaving the store.

That's a hell of a price.. a couple bucks below my wholesale price. I also use TerraCair.

talking to a ford service write at the campfire this last weekend. He says you better use the OEM def to avoid any problems or warranty issues. Seems overkill to me, has anyone had any issues with def brand related problems or warranty issues?

ROFL.

Just keep all your receipts. I do that plus take a picture of the date code on the jug that gets saved in A-Car records on my phone.

Either RAM, or the DEF supplier, or FUEL supplier is going to pay for any claimed "fuel" or other contamination issues that could come up during a warranty claim.
