So I had a key from my 2020 Ram that did not get sold with the truck. I thought I could just have it programmed to the new truck and that was wrong. Dealer said said keys can only be programmed once. Ok, so I didn't argue I just tossed the key in a drawer and went on. Well I picked up my 2022 and the dealer installed the remote start but said the option for the tailgate release was not available for my truck? Tradesman with a lot of options but you can't get that one? Well I came across a thread on here where all you had to do was soder a button on and the release would work. Made sense, so I grabbed the 5 button key fob I had and took it apart. I then removed one of the buttons with an iron and after a few try's placed it in the spot for the release and well ah. It now works the tailgate and I put the old 5 button cover on the new fob and now I have that. I am thinking I will look for the rubber 5 button cover and do the other key if I can find it. Cool easy mod, saved me 119 on the fob and 95 to have it programmed at the dealer. I know realize they are only programming the remote start. Thanks to all the guys who share info on here.
