I made a horrible mistake and I'm sweating bullets.

Short story: My friend asked me to tow her 5th wheel gooseneck horse trailer to her parent's farm since her truck was in the shop. I happily obliged and delivered the trailer successfully. Here's where I messed up. While cranking the gooseneck trailer off the hitch, I forgot to remove the hitch pin, and I didn't realize until the gooseneck trailer started making SERIOUS CREAKING NOISES. When I finally realized and stopped cranking the trailer, the creaking on the gooseneck part continued for ANOTHER TWO MINUTES. I quickly lowered the trailer back down after the creaking stopped.

My truck looks 100% okay, but did I break her gooseneck trailer? I have very limited experience, and I have no clue what to check to see if it's okay. What should I do? The gooseneck part creaked for a solid two minutes after I stopped. I'm so scared I broke something.

I don't think it will be possible to know without a detailed inspection of the trailer.

Any advice on what to look for? I'm struggling to imagine how anyone would "inspect" it other than looking from the outside (can't see any cracks or anything) and driving it around for a bit?

No the Gooseneck frame should be perfectly fine its designed to hold the weight The sounds are likely from the frame being loaded the opposite direction its used too nothing more. If you had heard a large snap then i would be concerned. In the past i have even lifted the rear of my truck with my old GN when it got stuck in the pasture so we could throw boards under the wheels.

I have seen many videos of people with electric trailer jacks using them to raise the rear tires with the trailer to change a tire.... I wouldn't personally do it, but I am sure that you didn't hurt your hitch or truck.
