2016 Dodge Ram Ram 2500 I just got the “Service DEF System See Dealer” message on my dash , is there anyone can help with clearing that garbage?

All jokes aside, truth is with diesel these days, if you are not deleted, you will have to get service performed in order to not get derated because of DEF problems.
And sadly, I would not trust anyone to do proper service other than the dealer. Sure, you can try a small shop but my experience is not good.

You can try draining and refilling your def tank with fresh def, also remove and clean the tip of the def injector. If that does not clear the code it’s dealer time for most of us....

I had that code pop up on my14 once . Cleared with a code reader / diagnostic tool . 6 years later and it never came back. Not saying you will be that fortunate but it is worth a try .

So I have the dreaded death code also. Service DEF see dealer. Only like 75 miles left before limp mode. 2020 Ram 3500 drw 12750 miles. I took it to the dealer last week. Dealer calls today and told me the def pump needs replaced due to contamination. He said it looks like gasoline or something? Not covered by warranty because of contamination. Bull$#&% I will be $3500 to fix. How can this not be a warranty item fix when this is a know issue?. How do I go about getting this covered by warranty? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not paying $3500.

Fight this like hell. Make them prove it contaminated. I really wish these things came with a locking cap, you know the tree huggers are itching to do some damage.

That's my plan. I don't see any way that I could have contaminated the def tank. I believe they using that as an excuse to cover as a warranty item. Which really pisses me off. You spend this much money on a new truck and they refuse to fix their bad parts.

Can you fill me in on what you've been able to get accomplished with this? I'm going through the exact same issue. Blaming me on putting contaminated fuild in my def tank. Thanks

I see the warnings in the video tutorial on the track my vehicle site (when being built) but I have not seen locking cap capability being offered, you can get a locking fuel cap so why not a DEF cap? Hard to claim contamination (outside source) and would have to prove DEF manufacturer at fault.

did the dealer show you the sample report? I'd want to see the data that the decision was based upon.

maybe @RamCares can help.

Genos garage has locking def and fuel caps for our trucks. I run them on mine.
