Message keeps showing up. I have a scanner and it is not reading the code. I checked the def injector, it is fine. Next suggestion? I was going to check pump next.

We had a freeze and DEF was at a 1/4, once I got the truck back out, I filled with Bluedef...sensor did not read the added for a few miles then kicked on and showed 3/4.

Ideas?

Did the message pop up before or after adding the new def? What exactly does the message say? Incorrect DEF detected?

the normal See dealer showed up when DEF was low, I filled it up with 2.5 gallon of blue def. The message went away, but didn't register on the gauge until I drove a few miles. then it registered. Several miles later, the See Dealer Limp mode message came on

Ok I won’t get a message to see the dealer if the def is low but will get a 200 mile countdown after the initial audible warning with “Def low” message. At 100 miles to 5mph derate the message and audible warning will come on every 5 miles.
If that sounds like what happened then you added DEF and got the “incorrect DEF detected” I’d question the new batch you added.
It is somewhat normal for the gauge to take a few minutes to register adding def, it won’t come up linear like the fuel gauge would. It’s a different type of sending unit.

Thank you

I'll try draining it I guess and refill with good DEF. What a pain in the @$$

I always get Walmart, the date is right there in plain language. It’s usually always fresh too because of the price.

Same, normal indication is just DEF low and miles remaining on the DEF. No mention of the dealer.

I haven’t had it go below 100 miles DTE yet to see that extra notifications.

Check the wiring harness under the cab. Specifically the driver side where it runs near the bed mounts and cab mounts. Look for signs of chafing.

Also, you can attempt a capacitor discharge reset. Some times, for some reason, the DEF related DTC’s will clear but the fault messages or countdown timers will not reset. If you disconnect the batteries and touch the cable together to drain down the capacitors. Let it sit a little while then attempt to restart.

I made a 5.5hour trip out to SW PA on Thursday for some building materials and left home with the trailer and def was at just over 1/4. On the way out it chimed at 1/4 tank, brief message, light comes on message goes away. Around 1/8 tank I get the 200 mile message, then it goes away. 150 miles, new message, then it goes away. Now the gage is reading dead empty at 9:00 position. 100mi and the message comes on and stays on unless you exit the warning screen. If you exit it will pop up every 5 miles with a chime. I ran it to 54 miles to derate. It can read empty for quite some time. The main reason I did this was it was def from the early fall of last year and I wanted to use as much of it as possible before adding the fresh jug I stashed in my truck before leaving for the trip.

I have a 2020 3500 DRW and had the DEF see Dealer message show up about two weeks ago. Took it in to the dealership. They returned the vehicle next day and stated that it is a software update required and they just had to flash the update. No charge for the service. Hope that helps

You are a much braver man than me!
I had a 2.5gal jug in the backseat, so I wasn’t too stressed. I had a fuel stop in mind I wanted to make it to, if it got much lower I probably would of hit a rest area and threw it in.

From what I understand on how it works is it wont actually go into de-rate unless you turn off the engine, it will just keep flashing at you. Someone with more knowledge or experience can either confirm or deny this please.

I just drained and refilled with good and the message is still there. D/C'd batteries for couple of hours and same message when hooked back up.

I’d try cleaning the injector before throwing in the towel

*not me in the video
Yep. Found this video. The injector is/has been cleaned. The error message shows up on truck, but not scanner. Tank has been emptied of old DEF with new clean DEF put in. Called dealership. They want me to drop it off for a few days. CC

You have done your due diligence. It will be interesting to see what comes of it.

Update:
After pulling my injector and confirming it is good, draining my tank and adding new fluid to no avail, I scheduled an appointment to take it in. On the way...the message disappeared and I'm good again.
Thanks for all the support here
