The hydrous ammonia in DEF fluid can create some white crusty residue over time. This is my first truck with DEF, a 2022 RAM. There is some discussion about using products to maintain the DEF system. Has anybody used them?

Don’t.

If anything pull your def injector annually and clear any buildup. High temp anti-seize the studs before reinstalling the nuts.

Fresh def helps as well.

I did some research about this as well & decided to try a DEF additive. Ended up purchasing some "Bardahl DEF Shot " which I got through Carolina Detail Supply at $15.99 + shipping (could not get through my regular provider Amazon). Also found that TSC (Tractor Supply Company) sells "Premium DEF" Traveller brand that advertises it has "anti-crystallization technology from Bardahl." It's $14.99 for a 2.5 gal.

While some will say don't do it as adding the stuff is a waste of money, I decided the cost is insignificant. And if the stuff works as advertised, so much the better. Currently on my first use of the stuff in my DEF tank & haven't pulled anything to check for crstaylization, so can't really give any review.
