I just had my free 5000 oil changed done at the dealer. I asked what the next oil change will cost me, as I do not have a pre-paid plan, and they said $188 for the service I got today. Now to look up "BG MOA oil additive" and see what that is. They noted it on the invoice as "required at each service interval to maintain protection".

BG is at least a "known company", but ask them to show you in the owner's manual, or service manual where it says there is any engine oil additive required. Nope, not there. They are just adding that to pad your(future)bill, and to do it without asking would really cheese me. You don't need any additive in a Cummins.
page 402 of the 2020 owners manual says do not add any additives to the oil lol. I would go make them change it again...

I asked them about it, and they 'said' the first oil change at 5000 miles was so they could look over the truck. It was free, so I had them do it. Probably the last time I will take it in except for warranty/recall items.
I order Mopar filter as a set online for a great price. And they are not knock offs but real Mopar items.
I am curious. How do we tell the difference between counterfeit and real filters? They do such a good job counterfeiting. I have seen videos for Honda and Toyota but never for Fleetguard or Mopar. Anybody got a link?
I just look at the packaging and the length of time doings sales. Most appear to be parts warehouses or dealerships. No issues for 110,000 miles on my 2013 RAM 2500 diesel.
You are repeating what has already been said. How do you know what the dealers are installing? Where are those filters made? Are the Mopar branded filters really the best filter for that application or the filter with the best profit margin?
And I have called a couple of places I've ordered from and talk to a person who sure didn't sound like an overseas call center person. And they knew the details of the parts.
So what oil did your dealer really put in you vehicle?

I buy my filters from Geno's, and bring my own oil and filter, on the occasion I don't do it myself.

I have never had a dealer change my oil. I do buy my filters from my dealer tho and they are mopar filters. They come from the regional mopar distribution center which is in Portland. I hope they are not counterfeit or knock offs.
