 my new 2019 2500 hd diesel has been damaged from a factory defect .
in 2 spots from the inside of the tailgate I have sharp points where the mechanism is hitting the tailgate skin.
that's the only thing I can figure.
it has not had anything to heavy on the tailgate small pallets well under 1000lbs total weight so not even that for weight on it.
I just read it is rated over 2000lbs so how did these sharp points from inside come to be?
I am madder then hell about this crap along with the bed liner pealed off tailgate as well & the stealership acts like you dragged something in or out of the bed. I looked at him and said no kidding it's a truck you fool & walked away bitching that my FORD bed liner never pealed in 9 years and 2 trucks.
going to call the ram 800# Monday morning and send pictures in. we will se what they say caused this.

I think I read somewhere else that the internal structure pops loose from dropping the tailgate and causes dimples...sure don’t make them like the used to.

Sorry to see that.

You can contact @RamCares here as well if you need assistance with your dealer and repairs.
Want to say welcome to the club and sorry to hear about your bad mechanical experience, these things are like our babies. I can definitly understand your anger and frustration, if that happened to me I would be livid. Just want to politely let you know that the last time I got really upset for a member that had a major breakdown with his family, i got really passionate and said some curse words, and they even had characters in them to not spell out the word directly. The forum has taken a stance on rule #6 about cursing and I had gotten in trouble. Just want to let you know, you probably don't care to much about that with a damaged tailgate on your mind, and I can understand your feelings, but none the less, i thought I'd let you know, and I'm anxious to hear about what went wrong and what fca plans on doing to correct your issue.

You don't need to be reminding members about site rules. It's up the the member to use proper decorum and if you find something offensive, just report it and let the moderators deal with it.

I was just giving him a heads up, I'm not the rules police, didn't want him to get in trouble and since he's knew, i thought I'd let him know. I didn't see a rules violation posting like on mine and I know the site is trying to rule with equality so I thought I'd be nice and warn him before he got in trouble for breaking rule #6. Im not going to report a member if I can help them first. Especially since i can understand his frustration as i had felt the same.

If I remember correctly the tailgate is aluminum as well as the hood. Its easy to dent sorry to say. Not a good place to save weight in my opinion!!!

it won't let me edit anything but the title or I would be happy to change it

I appreciate the heads up...I forgot to read the rules and may have bleeped a couple times but will refrain from here on out.

There was no need to edit your post.

Someone is making a bigger deal out of this than it really is.

Don't drop F-bombs using substitute characters. There are no virgin ears here, but it's a family friendly site and viewership is not restricted to members only.

Just got mine back from the dealership a couple of weeks ago. Had to replace the taligate as the welds were bad at the same spot inside the tailgate. Painted it but i have to wait 3 months to get the spray in liner done

Why so long, what am I missing, surely it don't take that long for paint to cure

Lol. Me either. I asked them where Ram stored their painted trucks for 90 days before adding the spray in bed liner. They didn't have an answer. Maybe Ramcares will chime in.

Factory paint is baked on in an oven to cure it fast.
Doesn't 90 days sound extreme though, even though its been sprayed with a gun. Does it have to take that long because of the way the spray on bed liner is applied? I ask cuz 90 days just sound crazy. If they told me that, id be afraid to take it out of the garage

I was told to wait 90 days for the paint on my cap to cure before washing it, so it sounds right to me.
