Back in 2005, I bought a passenger side battery tray from a Cummins truck (mine was a hemi 1500) so I could mount a second battery to help my winch. Does anyone know if the current tray would fit a Hemi truck? Basically I want to add a second battery into my 2026, 3500 Hemi truck. Here is a link to the latest tray...

I know NHOverland makes one, but the less expensive, plastic OE one would work fine for me if it fits. And maybe the lead time would be less than 4~6 weeks.

It is interesting just how specific it is to the cummins engine over 16 different fitments.

Did you find anyone showing an install on youtube ?

No I haven't. Most results are for the NHOverland tray, which is a nice unit, but I don't really want to spend that kind of money just yet.

I have the dual alternators on my 6.4. Wouldn't that be as good or better a solution for your winch rather than a 2nd battery? It's best to be running when using high draw accessories like a winch or anyway. Then again I don't know how hard adding a 2nd alternator is.

I have the dual alternators as well. I work for a company that develops electric steering columns/gears and what we have found is that with high electrical loads the battery is a good buffer vs just the alternator. We use stand alone power supplies that would imitate an alternator and they tend to let power surge. The battery helps smooth that out. We connect them as follows "208VAC wall outlet-power supply-battery bank-power steering test stand"... (in case anyone was curious). I probably won't buy/install a new tray until spring since I've recently found out the truck doesn't fit under my garage door LOL.

Thanks, very interesting!

Shoot, that's not good news on the height.
