So I was crawling under the truck today, planning my future exhaust plans. To my surprise I've noticed that theres corrosion started allready. I do know these do in fact rust per my 2016 but this brand new truck with 300 miles kinda shocked me.

Raw steel and iron parts will flash rust almost immediately. This has been going on for decades. The first new car I noticed on was an '83 Mustang.

Bare steel if you don’t like it prime and paint right off the bat. Fluid film would work good also. It would take 30 years for that to rot out at the rate it’s going. That being said I am opting to paint mine.

As long as its standard for those things to flash rust. I work on aircraft and any and all parts have a phosphate coating on it or we strip it down and throw a preservative on it. I'm not about ripping my drivetrain apart to throw a preservative on it.

It was probably rusted when it rolled off the truck that hauled it to your dealer. I wouldn't even give it a second thought.
