Nice

Are they noisy and how do they ride?
Same question I have. I am currently running AT3 XLT’s. I think they are a good road tire but I was very disappointed with their performance in winter weather. They are also not great even on damp grass. They have 27k miles on them and are under half tread left. I’m planning on replacing them before the snow comes. So that gives me a few more months to decide.

They are louder than the AT3 XLT, but those things are silent. They have a nice hum above 60, like any AT tire would have, but its not loud. Once my music is over like 6-10 its gone.

They also ride fine so far, no complaints. Go a micro-road trip coming this weekend, ill be able to get about 150 miles on them, ill report back after.

I wouldn’t just accept noisy ATs as the standard. My Falken Wildpeak AT3W are still silent, even with over 45k miles.

I installed a set of Falken AT4's and they are Very quiet.

They are not noisy by any means, there is just a little more road noise then then AT3 XLT. But the tread is much more aggressive than AT3's

I had the AT3 XLT and I love them! Didn't get much life out of them. But I loved them! I now Discoverer Stronghold AT and I hate them! I have had them for less than amonth and have had to balance them three times! And the noise! The freaking noise! You would swear I was running 35" mud terrains! Maybe I just got a bad set? Not sure what to do at this point. COOPER tires says 45 satisfaction guarantee but they're shop that I'm currently sitting in says there is no guarantee.

The only guarantee is Cooper is crappy these days i went through 3 sets of crappy AT3 ltx tires through their warranty then the last warranty i swapped them out not worth the hassle.

What did you do to get them warrantied?
Called cooper to confirm they have warranty then delt with the shop i got them from. I had to call the corporate office of the shop the first time as they were not helping me for warranty when they had an obligation as a cooper dealer to do so.

Just ordered some 295/70/17 Strongholds, coming from Cooper 285/70/17 Rugged Treks. I've gotten 51K out of the Rugged Trek and they have been probably the best AT/RT tire I've ever run. The weight between the two is the same of course the 295 minimally bigger. Will post once they are on and I put some miles on them.

Got the tires installed today and put about 25 wet miles on them. It’s gonna take a bit for me to adjust to them visually coming from the Rugged Trek, especially white letters out (still not so sure about that decision ). My main reason for swapping to an AT from an RT was for improved ride quality on road. Initial impressions: Smoother and softer ride compared to the Rugged’s. I know some of that is due to the age of the Rugged’s vs these. Also the 295s being slightly taller allows for a little more sidewall flex. Nothing drastic but definitely noticeable and an on road improvement. Also the less aggressive tread seems to offer a slightly smoother ride. Wet traction seems good, I wouldn’t call it great yet until I’ve had a chance to put more miles on them in wet conditions. However definitely an improvement vs my worn out tires. Lastly noise, From 0-60 not much really. When you get around 65+ you start to notice a hum. I wouldn’t called it MT loud but it’s pretty noticeable. It’s not a deal breaker for me, I’d say they are a tad less noisy than the Rugged’s.IMG_8147.jpegIMG_8150.jpeg

Definitely a good looking tire. I just got new tires and seriously considered them. I had the Cooper at3 XLT’s and they look great and are quiet but for being 3 peak rated I thought they were terrible on snowy slippery roads. I ended up going with the Nexen Rodian ATX. So far I’m extremely happy with them. They are as quiet as the AT3 XLT but much better traction. I decided against the strongholds because I’m looking for as quiet as possible on the highway. And was told they make some noise. But they look good!
