Rcd my 2022 2500 recently. Loaded my 8.5 ft camper on the 8 ft bed.
By the time I got up to 55 mph the camper was rocking uncontrollable.
My old 2500 (leaf springs) didn't that camper was on. Had I known about the weakness of the coils I would be driving something else.
Having air bags put on. If that doesn't fix the problem I will be selling a 2022 with about 600 miles on it.

Yeah inboard mounted coils can't compare with outboard mounted leaf springs for carrying capability unfortunately. Bags should help though. How heavy is the camper and what does your payload sticker say?

The coils are not weak and bags will solve the issue. The problem is the coils are inboard about 11” from where the leafs sat that means more of the “tippy” feeling you are experiencing and airbags mount closer to where the leafs sat giving a much more stable ride

Camper is 8.5 ft. Weighs about 2500 lbs. gvw is 10,000. Having HD airbags installed. Been told the bags would help 70 to 80 percent. Can live with that. If not a 2022 will be for sale.
You have similar experience?
Too bad ram went to coils.

Thanks I hope they do.

No similar experience but the Power Wagon is also not intended for heavy hauling.

I have a 2500 with air suspension on order. Hopefully it does better

Not the trucks GVW but the payload capacity. Should be on the same sticker as the tire information. Your payload will be the GVWR minus the curb weight of the truck. A lot of 2500 have fairly low payload even with a high GVWR especially if it’s a diesel

Hi Sims. I had the same issue with my 2020, only mine has air suspension. I added Sumo Springs (yellow), Hellwig Big Wig sway bars F&R & Rancho Adjustable shocks F&R. This helped tremendously to the point where I am now very happy with the truck.
I went with the Rancho shocks so I could adjust the dampening. I run full open empty & full closed with the camper on.
I hope this helps, John

I have a 2020 2500 and just bought a 5ther with a 2400lbs tongue weight. The coils handle the weight extremely well. My 2500 sags less than my brother in laws 3500 Duramax, and my tongue weight is heavier than his. I was highly impressed with my 2500 suspension. 5 hours trip with this thing and I will NOT be getting bag, don’t need them.

Did you check the camper loading sheet that comes with the truck? Not sure if that is exactly what it is called. On my 2500 the payload is about 2400lbs but it says truck can only carry a 1495lb camper. Has some kinda cog diagram that is probably important. My truck is 6' 4" bed.

Your 2500 payload is 2400lbs? My 2500 payload is 3,160lbs. And I only have coils. You sure about that?

I would be interested to see your payload sticker on your door jamb.

Assuming you have a Cummins...you would have the highest Diesel payload in a 2500 I have ever seen

Oh shizzzz. Y’all are right. I was just going off the website haha. It’s 2410 payload. And my 5th wheel is 2340 hitch weight. I got plenty to spare hahaha.

Happens to everyone it seems. Most guys with the 6.4l are barely getting 3000 with a loaded up truck.

I figured that was what you did...but you never know...

Doesn't leave a lot of room for anything else does it?

I’ll just add some bags to help with payload. Crazy thing is, my truck felt nowhere near its capacity. I felt like I could put another 500-1000lbs in the bed. It pull my 5th wheel with ease and the ride was really comfortable. My dry weight of the 5er is 11,890lbs.

thats because the “Payload” numbers are for registration purposes the AXLE GWR is what you load by and that is 12040LBS not the 10k registration (payload) weight
