2023 Ram 2500, 30k miles. Got code 2459, clogged DPF and regen frequency. It was a total of 3 stored codes. Dealership says the turbo was leaking oil causing constant regens, and will be replacing the turbo.

Does anyone think this could be due to constant use of the exhaust brake?

No the exhaust brake would not be the cause . I use mine frequently and it is a 2020 with 59k . Sometimes an oil , water leak just happen weather it be a gasket , seal , hose or a clamp . S### happens !

That was my thought as well. I use my exhaust brake pretty much every time I drive.

Been in the shop 3-4 times for the DPF filter issue. They replaced the filter then the EGR which ( knock on wood) seems to have fixed it.

Seems that the dealer thinks the turbine shaft oil seal in the turbo has failed allowing oil to pass and enter the exhaust side of the turbine leading to a clogged DPF.

I suppose that is possible, but seems like a stretch IMO. Would need to be A LOT of oil to make that happen.

Is your oil level ever low?

Keep us updated!

Oil was never low, will be keeping more of an eye on it now though. Just had an oil change a couple hundred miles before bringing to the shop. Going to ask if they topped off or anything, if so I’ll change it again to make sure it’s the same oil as I use Amsoil.

Got the truck back today. Repair order said they pressure tested the intake system and found no leaks. Removed cold side boost pipe from intake plenum and found soaked with oil, inspected heater grid for restriction and found not clogged. Needs turbo for dumping oil into intake system creating more soot. Drained cool and and removed and replaced turbo with all new gaskets. Removed and flushed intercooler and reinstalled.

Did notice this tick appearing to come from the passenger side, anyone else have this or is it just me imagining things? Running amsoil 10w-30. Living in LA with our heat should I swap to a heavier weight oil? Any recs?

Oil on cold side of turbo is from the PCV system and normal (unless it's very excessive).

My opinion (and there will be MANY lol) is your oil weight and choice is good. Unfortunately that sounds like the lifter tick these late model 6.7's are starting to exhibit all over.
