Had no idea where to post this…so went with a new thread. If it needs to move to another section, please help 
I know there have been some comments/theories that part of the chip shortage is fueled by the automakers hoarding chips… this seems to mention that.

tldr;
The government is going to use the defense production act to get manufacturers to tell them how many chips they have on hand. How many they need. Why they order so many. All to see if hoarding is driving this shortage…but also to see if there is any way they can help kick the supply chain in to overdrive.
