Chewed plug wire

Chewed injector wiring? Do you have a question? Just making a statement?

This wire was chewed on both sides, I split the wire apart and taped for now. Not sure how to unplug this wire and than can I cut it and splice it back together and use shrink wrap on it or do they make pig tails to replace. Can’t find any information on it and don’t want to take to dealership. Don’t want to do something that’s going to lead to more problems. Any help would really be appreciated
Thanks

if you are looking at the connector as in your picture, that red portion is a lock that will pull straight back at you about an 1/8” to release the lock. Then under where it was should be a little tab that must be pressed down while you pull the whole connector backwards and off the injector. This tab is a secondary lock.

How bad was the chewing? If it was just through the wire insulation there is a liquid electrical tape that can be applied to the open areas - then regular tape over that and you’ll be golden.

If there are wire strands chewed then you’ll need to order an injector pigtail from the dealer and wire it in. It’s really simple with some heat-shrink crimp butt connectors and some good electrical tape.

If there is still room before the connector you can just cut out the bad wiring and splice it back together with a crimp connector too

Thank you so much for your help I have been trying to look this up for some time with no luck. Do you know what the liquid electric tape is called I didn’t know they made such a thing, the chewing was just pretty much the plastic around the wire. I’m use to the old school plug wires etc. You made my day when you answered my question! Thanks again so much

Also another question. Could this be causing my gas cap/ engine light to come on, truck is running great but I keep getting a code P0455 Evap system large leak. Thanks again for your assistance on this

Always had old school Starbright on hand but this is a bit cheaper, at least on Zon…I don’t have my specs, does it say gender-bender? -))))

The stuff @Poolmonkey posted is good stuff.

And no those wires being chewed won’t cause an Evap code. You might have just left the gas cap loose so I’d clear the code, tighten the cap and see if it comes back. If not then life is good.

And no problem for the help! Glad to assist

Just to give you a update, weather turned really cold and truck is to big to get into my garage. Stopped at my local shop where I go for things I don’t want to do and there going to repair it Tuesday for a cost of about $50. Thanks again for your help.
