After having my dog in the truck for 4 straight days on my way to Florida the air was pretty foul. He has no social graces. But it could be me blaming the dog unjustly, full disclosure. I was coming up on a service interval and decided to change out the cabin air filter early in an attempt to rehabilitate my interior. I purchased a charcoal cabin air filter on Amazon for $12 and watch a youtube video on how to do it.
Despite watching carefully I did still manage to break off a plastic tab that appears to serve no function but everything went back together fine with new filter in place. All in it was about a 10 minute operation and I was pretty surprised to see that the factory Ram filter is little more than thin paper that seems to serve as a debris catcher more than anything else. After a few days with the new filter I did notice that the interior was in fact freshening up and add a good cleaning it was fully back to normal. After a month of use I will say that the cabin air is consistently pleasant, which I attribute in part to the charcoal filter.
