Changing fuel filters for the first time on a Ram. Everything is going fine except I can't get the front filter to seat far enough to start the threads on the cap. The bottom end has the oval shaped rubber gromet. I keep twisting it slightly and pressing down, but I am getting nowhere. Anyone had this problem?

I do just what you do and it ends up seating. It does take a little bit of pressure. Are you using oem filters?

I put the old filter back in place with no problem. It was pretty clean.

Heads up. I ordered Mopar/Fleetguard filters on Amazon. The rear one fell apart internally when I tried to push the filter into the cap. I went to the local Ram dealer and they gave me a free one which worked fine. The front one apparently has some orientation problem. The oblong opening in the bottom is not lined with the cross in the bottom of the housing. Be careful where you buy filters.

Amazon is fakes usually the truck would not have ran if you actually would have gotten the rear installed as fuel wont flow past it from every report i have seen with the amazon fakes. There is no orientation on the front one at least with a proper filter it just pops right in.

Never. Ever. Buy filters from Amazon or eBay. They are proliferated with fake filters. All low quality garbage manufactured overseas.

Geno’s Garage or KLM performance are trustworthy options if you need to buy online.

If you’d like to buy in person, Freightliner and International truck dealers can get all the OEM filters for our trucks, as can Fleet Pride and other retail truck shops.
