Those of you with Carli’s torsion bar... is it really the single best improvement you’ve done to ride quality? That’s their claim.

Similar to the last thread in this group; I’ve disconnected the front on Wranglers in the past. It helps with off-road characteristics but on-road it just added some body roll.

What’s inheriently wrong with the factory sway bar?

It's a 1 inch thick bar of metal meant for hauling 20k lbs. When not hauling they suck. I would imagine the thuren and carli offerings are very good.

I've ridden in 4th gens with them and the ride was much better. I have one on order for my 2020.

No first hand experience with the Carli, as I went with Thuren, but it is a HUGE improvement over stock. I no longer have to lean to the center when I approach obstacles as I know it'll handle things for me without throwing me around. I can't say anything "feels" different when driving straight, or turning over even surfaces, but whenever things are uneven, it is significant.
