Can Aux switch be in build with Tow Tech Plus?

On the factory website, it appears when "Tow Technology Plus Group" is selected, the stand alone "Instrument Panel Mounted Auxiliary Switch" option is automatically deselected.

Is the Aux switch setup in the Tow Technology group or is it not available because something in the Tow Group conflicts with an Aux switch setup?

Thanks,
David

The Aux switches I know you can add on as an Additional Interior feature option or also thru the Snow Chief package. I just recently built a 3500 with the Aux switch option thru the Snow Chief package.

The challenge we observed was that we could choose the Aux individually but when we added the Tow Technology Group, we were prompted that the Aux choice would have to drop. I am not familiar enough with the setup to know where the conflict might be, perhaps they share the same control space?

You may want to consider going into a Ram dealership and building one with a salesman. They have more access to build variations.

The trailer steer knob panel forces the other buttons into a different layout 2x3 (?) and it's incompatible with the AUX switch layout which is 2 rows of 6 buttons..

It's physically not possible to do a factory build with both TTG and AUX.

You may be able to DIY after the fact by removing the trailer steer module, but will also need to replace the 12" display. To date, I don't see that anyone has actually performed this mod.

"Who was that masked man?" You solved it! We really appreciate this, now we know our build selections were not in error.

The concept is terrific, probably like many of this forum, have gone through the firewall many times hoping each foray will the the last. Hopefully we can sneak a few wires through without drilling.

Thanks for your assistance,

David

Oddly enough, the AUX prep kit/wiring should be there with the TTG and there are pass-thru wires already in the harness.

What stinks is to get the DRVM 3.0 (includes side cameras in rear view) you have to get TTG.

Skip to post#5 if you just want to see the AUX wiring info.

That is a terrific thread, particularly the video and diagrams. It covers a wealth of wiring layout basics that I have not seen elsewhere. I also noticed there is a high current buss bar we can tag into, for example, our HF radio transmitter needs a direct battery connect. The automatic antenna tuner can tag into some of the rear wiring pointed out which is way better that dragging a wire connected from the front or even worse traversing the firewall.

This forum is materially helpful to ferreting through a myriad of issues that are new for us. The technology in this vehicle is substantially different in many ways from the vintage equipment we have been working with.

Thanks again for your help with this!

FWIW, the HAPP is good for 300A. Chassis ground is only good for 50A.
