Buying truck with rebuilt title

I'm looking at a truck with rebuilt title. I know the front and back was damaged. Totaled by insurance. What to check for to make sure it will not fall apart on my 2 hour drive to it's destination? I know some insurances won't cover the rebuilt one but it won't be my daily driver. Just a truck to use around my property and going to menards.

No details on what you're looking to buy, but generally by the time insurance totals a newer HD truck for impact damage, I'd expect a good bit of plastic and body metal is loose. I've seen shipping companies plastic wrap these before hauling them in the open to avoid shedding parts impacting other vehicles.

Everything was fixed. You can't tell it was totaled. Looks like 2 years old trucks but it's actually 10 years old. Price is half of what same truck with clean title cost. Just want to check to make sure it won't fall apart while driving for 2-3 hours.

The only way to be "sure it won't fall apart" is to find out who did the work and check up on their "reviews" on other work they have done.

Test drive it on the roughest road you can find with the windows down and listen for noises.

I bought a truck that was "almost" totaled (it was deemed totaled and then the insurance co. changed its mind). It had a lot of new parts on it and ended up being the best truck I ever owned. I sold it and that saw that guy a few years later and he said it was the best truck he ever owned as well. Inspect the hell out of it and if you think it looks and feels solid, I say give it a go.

Is “falling apart” a typical thing that happens to rebuilt vehicles? Like whoever repaired it just left all the parts loosely installed?

I think it would be easy to tell if it’s going to fall apart by looking at it..

Not sure I’ve really seen that before-

Half price sounds like a good deal.
