Hi everyone, I have a couple of questions. I am in the process of placing an order on a 3500 SRW out of state, and I am also buying a truck camper (about 3600lbs) in the same city. My question is, is adding 3600lbs of payload and drive 800 miles with it a wrong idea for a brand new truck, or is the breaking in period only for "towing". Please advise. Thank you in advance!

imo 3600 lb is nothing for these trucks. go easy on the throttle and i can't imagine any issues. if anyting it's probably a good break in cycle.

Break in also includes the brakes I believe.

Idk if you have the diesel, but the hemi manual states you should vary your speed and only do moderate acceleration until I think 500 miles

I should have written more information. It is a Diesel engine (no ASIN). So the total weight that will be on the truck will be close to 4000 with the wife and I. I do plan on going easy of course, but just hesitant of driving the first 800-1000 miles of the truck with 4000lbs in the back, and I've heard the break in period its crucial for the rear end and other components within the drive but not so much the engine. Feel free to school me if I am wrong...

Engine should be good from the factory (per my 12 Cummins). I just don't know enough about the new ones to be sure. I still imagine the brakes and driveline need some sort of break in

The manual states 500 miles break-in for drivetrain components. I pulled my 10k lb toy hauler ~370 miles the first weekend I had my truck and no issues at all so far. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just be smart and take it easy like you said. Enjoy the new combo!

is it 3600 wet or dry?

3600 should be wet weight... dry weight on camper is 3366, and it has a 44 water tank.. i rounded up to 3600 without the water tank full and some gear.. maybe 37-3800 max? After breaking in period i do plan on going a bit over payload...

Yeah, I think your wet weight will be higher after loading it up with cargo etc, hot water, forks knives blah blah. Beer alone will cost you a half ton:) I would take your truck to a cat scale to be sure, but in any case I think being cautious with break in is a good plan.
