Hi, RAM has the trailer tow prep package for their trucks. Just for clarity, I linked to a photo of one on etrailer - in the red truck bed on the right. Also called a puck system.

_________

I am thinking about building a DIY "chuck wagon" box that goes into the bed. Not a full camper but something that slides in between the wheel wells to store things like tools, bikes, etc.

To hold it securely in place, I would like to attach it using the trailer tow prep package and bolting it down through the floor of the box to it these prep points.

I am looking for adapters that go into the prep package to attach the bolts. Similar to how the goose neck ball goes in and the associated chain attachment points.

It must be right there in front of me but I am missing the term that these are called.

I have not purchased the truck yet, and have only done bumper towing in the past, but since these prep systems are so common, I might as well plan to use it.

edit - are the chain attachment points just a T slot type arrangement ?

Thanks, Harry

I guess studying it all more closely, the approach is likely to be to just use the safety chain points vs the goose ball location.

I am estimating the DIY box and contents at ~ 1 000 lbs.

So something like this, but without the chain loops and not sticking up in the bed.
