hello all,
new member with thanks in advance for information.
As you can see, I have a 2016 5500, with only 33000 miles. It is a hauler bed conversion pulling (when I travel, which is rarely now as I am an older man with health problems) a 24500 pound Fifth wheel RV. However, I do need to be able to make any emergency trips that might be necessary, so selling the truck, etc., is not an option, especially as my trailer is so heavy.
My questions, please, are these:
1. would someone kindly decode this blue def date code for me?: 122223467486 a
2. for a truck that is only driven every once in a while to keep things working, but no longer goes on any long trips, meaning that DEF fluid spend a lot of time in its tank in Florida, what does this mean for DEF shelf life? Putting it another way, if I take new DEF that has, say, two years left out of the container and put it in the def tank in the truck, and the truck is only driven, say, 400 miles per year for the next two years, is the def still in that tank now essentially expired?
3. if the answer is "yes", am I better off only keeping a small amount of DEF in the truck until if/when a long trip might happen?
4. if "yes", while the truck has been working fine, the DEF in there (it is down to where soon it will cross the line prompting me to put more in it) has been in there for 1-2 years......do I need to mix it in with some newer or actually drain what is in there (I don't know how to do that and hope I don't have to)?
5. any other caveats or advice, please?
i hope my questions make sense and I apologize if not.
again, thank you very much......
