Best placement for oil temp sensor?

Hey y'all, looking to see if there are any suggestions on where to put a engine oil temperature sensor for the most accurate readings.

It appears that most people suggest on top of the oil filter housing. I already have a oil bypass filter installed there. I installed a "tee" fitting to install the temperature sensor there as well but the readings are colder (by 5-10 degrees) than the coolant temp at full engine warm up.

I'm not quite sure why that would be. Any other spot to mount the sensor?

Unless you’re towing or on a long highway drive oil temp can easily stay 5-10° cooler than coolant.

How is the T plumbed? Any pics?

There were two 1/8” ports on the oil filter housing of my 05 so I had the oil temp sensor in one and the bypass filter on another.

Bad angle. I'll need to get in there again and straighten everything out. Waiting to make sure this is where the sensors are going to go.

There appears to be only the one port on top of the housing. I wish there was a second

A different T might let you seat the oil temp probe more into the flow of oil.
