Needing more tool storage. I have a chest toolbox up front. Looked at the swing out side cases from like dezee or swing out. Can't see any in person. But judging by you tube videos, they seem pretty flimsy. Looks like the weather guards mount above the rail?

Kicker is, I pull a fifth wheel. Anyone have any suggestions? Or any experience with the plastic swing cases or side mount boxes.

At this point all I am think of is a smaller job box locked to one of the d rings. Not ideal. But at least easy to remove when I'm not using it.

They are junk in my experience and in the cold the break easy

I don't have any experience with the side mount boxes, but I had one of the UnderCover swing out boxes on my 4th gen. I had it covered 100% of the time by a Snugtop shell and rarely ever swung it out and only kept lightweight items in it. Even then it failed in less than 6 months.

I have a swing out box in my truck. While the latch can have its moments I like it for stowing stuff. Chain and clevis, straps, extra gloves, etc. I like how it tucks out of the way and is easily removable. It does have a locking lid but I wouldn't put anything of value in it.

Depends what you want to spend but a local fab shop could make you one out of aluminum and it would hold up better, the idea behind them is great its just the cheap execution that sucks
