Before you say anything, I know this is the 5th gen site. I have a 2019 Ram 3500 but I was wanting some opinions on a 1998 Dodge 2500 flatbed. This truck is my “workhorse”- I use it every single day of the year to feed and work with. I am considering having someone spray bed liner on the cab portion. The 12 valve diesel runs like a beast and I plan on using it for many more years. The cab is in really good shape considering it being a 98 with almost 300,000 miles! Love the truck. What are yalls idea on bed liner being sprayed on it?9BE93F11-05F3-4369-8F47-C4B22F7C878D.jpeg429442C5-8781-40DE-BC86-403A1AB81E3E.jpeg429442C5-8781-40DE-BC86-403A1AB81E3E.jpeg

If it were me, I wouldn’t do it, it has made it this long and still looks that good! They have to scuff all the metal before they shoot that stuff on there and once you go there you can’t go back. No doubt it probably would look badass, but save your money.

Spray it, farm trucks endure things most don’t, like umm ... $#IT  Now ya showed us all this one I want it! Also your shop ...and your stude too. Cool stuff man

If it were me, I would wash it with a strong mix of Dawn Ultra and wash it real good, unbolt mirrors and any other thing that I could get off easily. Then I would get some good wet sanding paper and start sanding Making sure where any rust is to get all the way down to the metal., Go by HF or somewhere and pick up a reasonably price spray gun and apply a couple of coats of good Primer, Then I would go by Tractor supply or a local automotive or Industrial paint supplier and pick up some Enamel or Epoxy paint (something easy to work with), Mask it all off and put a couple of good coats on. If you want it to keep a shine longer you could shoot a couple of coats of clear on as top coat. If all fails, you could still get the bed liner applied. At least now you would have a good base coat to help protect the metal from all the sanding they will do.

It is my experience that Spray on bed liner adds a lot of weight and is always hard to clean and white tinted bed liner always yellows. If you ever want to remove it is will be a nightmare.
