Any reason I shouldn’t drill drain holes in the battery tray? I had no idea I was growing vegetables in my engine bay.

Mine had quite a bit of water in it too, and that was when it was only a week old. I've been afraid to look since... I couldn't find any drain holes that were blocked.

The only bad reason I can think of is if your battery boils over the corrosive juice will get on the components underneath, but usually they won’t boil over in rapid fashion and should be caught by anyone who has a decent maintenance routine. I may do mine after seeing Washington (12 volt) DC in your tray there.

Yeah it didn’t cross my mind about battery leaks. That would explain why they didn’t afford drainage from the factory. I went ahead and made my own. I went with sealed AGM batteries so my concern about leakage is not very high.
