Battery change tips

After careful consideration from the replies on this thread I decided to return the Amazon memory saver and raw dog the battery swap.

Reading the instructions on the memory saver I felt like the chance of popping the obd fuse, or worse, was a greater risk.

No negative effects. I didn’t even lose radio presets. My compass wasn’t calibrated (took 5 mins to fix itself) and my serv 4x4 light came on for about 2 seconds.

Updated the original post to show the tips I learned.

Battery tray holds water: confirmed. I chose to dry it out and do nothing. That’s all the water I have after four years and it’s a plastic battery tray. Opted not to drill holes, I’d rather the plastic tray catch any possible corrosion from the battery

I reinstalled the battery blanket on the new battery. It’s easier to install on the battery before lowering the battery into the tray. I had to cut the blanket because the new battery handles were a different orientation but the blanket holder tab thing holds it down and you can’t tell I cut it.

Probably to early to ask but how has that Duracell been ?

It’s a bit early on this one but I’ve had good luck with them on a few vehicles. They’re made by east penn who make deka and other high end AGM batteries.

I used to be an optima guy after having a red top that I simply couldn’t kill and moved from vehicle to vehicle then we had bad luck with three optimas in a row and jumped ship.

After going through 3 of Autozone brand’s best battery in three years, stuck a Red Top in the work Titan…used the remaining warranty toward it, will see.

Similar experience with a yellow top, they aren’t what they use to be.
