Well someone has finally (unless I missed it) done a proper test of the Banks Monster Ram vs stock/BD grid heater comparison:


Spoiler, it can’t handle Canadian winters… maybe California… :cool:

Unless Banks can figure this out, I’ll stick with the stock/BD kit for when my warranty is up.

Edit: Watch it quick before the Banks Lawyers take it down.
 
Just comparing the current draw between the two would give you a definite answer, the stock grid heater draws over 200A compared to around 60A for the banks. That's over 2400 watts of heat compared to 720 watts for the banks
 
My guess is that Banks designed it to function where the majority of the population lives and it seldom or never gets to as low as -30C/-22F.
